Civil Weddings at a cliff/ beach/sunset/garden location
Civil weddings may be conducted at locations outside of the Town Hall in the Tsilivi, Lagana. Kalamaki and Keri areas although  due to legalities some of the paperwork may need to be signed at the Town Hall on the morning of the wedding with your two witnesses.
The wedding is a short but lovely informal ceremony conducted in Greek and simultaneously translated into English.
It is your special day so you will decide on the finer details such as what music will be played for the guests waiting, for you walking in and for the signing of the register, who will give the bride away or whether the bride and groom will walk in together, any extra vows which you may have written yourselves and would like to include and of course the readings to be read either by yourselves, one of your guests or your wedding co-ordinator.
Weddings are conducted late afternoon/evening but times are flexible depending on the time of year so it will always be light enough for beautiful photographs to be taken during and after the ceremony.

Civil Weddings
in the Town Hall

Weddings take place on Fridays in the Zakynthos Town Hall and on Thursdays in the Lagana Town Hall between 19.00 and 20.30
The wedding will be a short and informal ceremony in Greek which will be simultaneously translated into English by our wedding coordinator with the option of having extra readings if you wish.
Zakynthos Town Hall is a newly renovated building just across from the seafront and opposite Solomos Square and is the perfect location for beautiful photographs with the sea and coastal line in the background. |

Lagana Town Hall is a newly renovated building and has plenty of greenery outside for
your wedding photos.
In both of the Town Halls the rooms used are conference rooms and have long tables where you will be able to walk down the middle of them as if it were an aisle so you can still enjoy the traditional effect of the groom waiting at the bottom while the bride is walked up the ‘aisle' and given away by the person of her choice. |

It is your special day so of course you will be able to make the final decisions about details such as where your guests will sit or stand, how you will walk in, what music will be played and what extra readings will be read.

At the Alykes Town Hall weddings take place on weekdays only between 9am and 13.30pm.
This Town Hall is situated in Katastari in a picturesque square next to the church and therefore lends itself to a pretty background for photographs.
The wedding ceremony takes place on the second floor in the Mayor’s office which is very tastefully decorated and holds about 20 people.

Legal documentation required for a civil ceremony wedding
(all legal documents need to be authenticated by the Foreign Office and translated into Greek)

Valid ten year British Passports – these do not need to be translated

Full Birth Certificates showing parents details
-
If divorced-Decree Absolute
-
If widowed-Death Certificate and previous Marriage Certificate

If either of the couple has had a name change (including reverting back to maiden name)-a change of name document on headed paper stamped and signed by a solicitor
- If either of the couple is under 18 years-proof of parental consent in the form of a Statutory Declaration is required-stamped and signed by a solicitor
- A Certificate of No Impediment is required from both of the persons intending to marry.(This is issued by your local registrar)
Once you have had the required documents legalized either the originals must be sent to us by registered post or copies faxed to us at least three weeks before the date of your wedding and we will have them translated for you into Greek.
Please note the originals must be brought with you when you travel to Greece.
We cannot be held responsible if you have not brought the necessary original documents with you. Further details regarding obtaining the above documents will be given on receipt of your request for further wedding information.
